LeRoy graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor Community HS June 1, 2008. In February of his junior year LeRoy scored a perfect 36 on the ACT test. He was one of only 29 students in the country to accomplish this feat. In April of that same year he was required to retake the test with the rest of his class as part of the PSAE testing schedule. Amazingly, LeRoy again scored a perfect 36. He will attend the University of Illinois in Champaign in the fall of 2008 on scholarship, studying engineering. LeRoy has joined our In Search of Genius Board to both serve as an example of what is possible when a young person's curiosity for learning is sparked and as a spokesperson for the young people the foundation will serve.
Some of his honors in high school have included: HF High School-Distinguished Scholar, HF High School-Outstanding Scholastic Achievement, CollegeBoard AP Scholar with Distinction, Illinois State Scholar, 2008 Merit Scholarship Finalist, National Achievement Sc holarship Recipient, President's Award for Educational Excellence, and Academic Letter and Pin. During LeRoy's career in high school he was a member of Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honors Society, National Honor Society, and Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica (Spanish NHS). In addition to his academic pursuits, LeRoy helped other students by peer tutoring and volunteering at his church with their PADS ministry.
